Frequently asked questions

  • Why do you only ship Monday and Tuesday?

Exotic Botanist ships only on Mondays and Tuesdays in order to reduce transit time for your plants. The less time the plant sits in a truck the better. Your plants will arrive in better condition this way!

  • What does it mean if my plant is shipped bare root?

Currently, Exotic Botanist only has one plant in stock that will be shipped bare root. Bare root means that the plant will be removed from the pot, all of the soil will be removed. The roots will be carefully wrapped to ensure they stay moist and healthy for their trip to you. This is done to reduce the shipping cost for larger plants that would otherwise cost a lost to ship in a 1 gallon pot.

  • What if my order comes damaged?

If your plant arrives damaged beyond recovery, please reach out within 48 hours with photos. We’ll work with you to send a replacement (if in stock) or provide store credit. Please note: shipping costs are nonrefundable. For more details see plant guarantee

  • Do you accept returns?

Because plants are living products, I do not accept returns. However, I guarantee healthy, well-rooted plants and stand by my shipping policy.

  • How do I care for my new plant?

Each product page includes basic growing tips. If you need additional guidance, feel free to reach out — I love helping customers succeed with their new plants

  • Are your plants safe for pets and children?

Many of the plants we carry are toxic if ingested. Our products are sold for ornamental use only and should be kept out of reach of children and pets. As long as they are out of reach there is no danger. The pollen or aroma is not toxic.
